Chocolate (or Carob) Donuts

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups wheat flour without baking powder
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate powder or carob powder
  • 3/4 - 1 cup brown sugar (depending on the desired sweetness)
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbs lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup plant based milk (almond, soy, coconut, etc.)

  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

For the glaze:

  • 1 Tbs plant based milk (almond, soy, coconut, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup powdered/flowering sugar
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped almonds

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, first mix the dry ingredients.
  2. Apart, mix the milk with the lemon and let it be cut. Mix with the rest of the wet ingredients.
  3. Combine the two mixtures and form a dough that will be quite light.
  4. Place in a mold for donuts and bake them at 350º F, for 20 minutes until they are inflated.
  5. Remove from mold and let cool.
  6. For the glaze, mix the milk with the sugar and let this mixture drip over each donut once they are cold. Put a little of the chopped almonds on top immediately and let the glaze harden before serving.
